Delegation of BYD, Electrify Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Energy Automotive Factory held a number of meetings

In March, as part of a business visit to Baku, a delegation from the People's Republic of China representing BYD held extensive meetings with various companies and institutions alongside the brand’s local partner in Azerbaijan, Electrify Azerbaijan, and their joint subsidiary, Azerbaijan Energy Automotive Factory.

During the meeting with “BakuBus,” discussions were held regarding the operation of BYD electric buses currently in service on routes in Baku and its surrounding areas, their technical maintenance, and the optimization of operational processes. Additionally, within the framework of plans to improve the public transport system, the order of 200 new buses planned for Baku city this year was discussed.

As part of the companies' plans to expand cooperation, negotiations were also conducted on confirming the order of new electric buses for the Karabakh and Nakhchivan regions in 2025, as well as steps towards establishing a modern, sustainable public transport system in these areas.

The delegation also visited the local electric bus assembly plant - Azerbaijan Energy Automotive Factory, which will soon begin operations, and became familiar with its production areas. Discussions on ongoing cooperation and the production of local spare parts were held during meetings with representatives of the Industrial Zone Development Agency (IZIA), Sumqayit Chemical Industrial Park (SCIP), Sumqayit Technologies Park (STP), and Azertexnolayn. The plan aims to increase the local production of buses to 40% in the future. This makes future cooperation in this field of great importance.

Considering the country’s commitment to green energy, many companies and organizations are renewing their vehicle fleets and switching to electric vehicles, supporting this strategy. To explore these opportunities further, a number of companies received detailed information about BYD's electric passenger and commercial vehicles during the meetings.

Thus, discussions were held with one of the largest transport companies in the country, Xaliq Faiqoğlu, on expanding the company’s fleet with electric vehicles and exploring possible cooperation perspectives. During the meeting with Azərpost, BYD's latest electric trucks and minivans were introduced to partners as a sustainable solution for delivery services. At the meeting with ADA University, detailed information was provided on specially designed electric school buses, offering safe and environmentally friendly transport solutions for students of various numbers depending on size and model.

The topic of education and the training of qualified personnel was also addressed during the meetings. This issue was discussed not only with ADA University but also with representatives of the Economic Zones Development Agency's Centre for Vocational Education. The productive meeting highlighted the training of professional staff for service centers and production areas, as well as broader cooperation prospects in this field.

As a result of this series of productive meetings, the parties discussed current and future orders, long-term cooperation opportunities, and the importance of mutual technology and experience exchange, setting the next steps toward the development of environmentally friendly transport.
